weekend

On Sunday we visited Ieper (or Ypres in French), a charming small town in the West-Flanders region of Belgium. We had a really great time. The weather was amazing and the town is really beautiful. It has traditional Flemmish architecture and it is surrended by wondeful countryside.

The town is also known for its troubled past. It was the site of three major battles of the First World War and the many memorials and cemeteries draw a lot of (mainly) British visitors. We went to explore the trenches and bunkers with the kids who really enjoyed it, but I found it extremely difficult to speak about wars to them. I just want them to believe in kindness as long as it is possible!

we can still find some lilies of the valley.

Hétvégén ellátogattunk Ieperbe, ami egy nagyon szép flamand kisváros. A hagyományos flamand építészeten és a várost körülvevő gyönyörű tájon túl, ezen a helyen történt 3 nagyon fontos csata az első világháborúban. A temetők és emlékhelyes sok (főleg brit) turistát vonzanak. A fiúk nagyon élvezték a lövészárkok és a bunkerek felfedezését is, én viszont csak nehezen tudtam Marcinak elmagyarázni, hogy mi és miért történt itt. Jó lenne, ha minél tovább hinni tudnának a jóságban...
Az orgona és a gyöngyvirág a kertünkből van.
